A Week in Plaisance

A world in a village in Aveyron, France….

Plaisance is a small village that sits at a crossroads in rural Aveyron, in the south-east of France, tucked away in the folded valleys and hillsides that follow the river Tarn and the smaller rivers and streams that feed into it. We spent a glorious summer week there with our family - children and grandchildren - revelling in the sunshine, the local fetes, the food, the wine, the country walks, exploring the villages and towns close by as well as the much larger town of Albi, further afield..

Needless to say, I have lots of holiday snaps. These photographs, however, are an effort to capture something else - a sense of place, something of the region’s culture and history, and evidence everywhere of the influence of the church….
