Pied Kingfisher, Marievale

I watched for a long time, at the Marievale Bird Sanctuary in Gauteng, South Africa, as this pied kingfisher swooped and hovered, hunting for its dinner. The kingfisher didn’t have much luck, alas, but I felt truly fortunate.
